The first meeting of the Governing Council (GC) of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) with new members and under the chairmanship of actor Gajendra Chauhan has been postponed to January 7 next year.
The meeting, which was earlier scheduled to be held on Friday, has been pushed because only a few members said they could attend it.
"Some people weren't available for the December meeting, thus we postponed it to a date where more people will be present," Chauhan, the present chairman of FTII and a BJP member, told IANS.
The last GC meeting was held in January 2014, helmed by former chairperson and filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza.
Chauhan was appointed the chairman of FTII on June 9, 2015. His appointment triggered an indefinite strike by students of the institute on June 12. The students withdrew the strike in October after 139 days.
