American filmmaker Cary Fukunaga, who won a Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for "True Detective", says it would be cool to have an Indian version of the crime drama TV series.

The series' first season featured stars like Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and the American director doesn't mind an Indian version of it.

"I am actually quite curious about this. I was thinking how cool would it be to have an Indian 'True Detective'. Like this good Hindu family, but the guy has a side girl...so much to explore," Fukunaga, who is in India for the first time, said during a panel discussion at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star on Tuesday.

Bollywood filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, another panellist, agreed with him.

"It would be a great show," said Advani, whose upcoming TV show "P.O.W. Bandi Yuddh Ke!" had its world premiere at the fest.
