Gang led by lawyer busted, 65 mobile phones seized

Police in Ghaziabad have busted a gang of mobile thieves headed by a lawyer and recovered 65 mobile phones from their possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna said the gang members snatched mobile phones in densely populated areas and at railway stations.

The criminals were identified as Mithlesh, Alopi Mehto, Durga Mehto, Gopal Kumar and Nandan Kumar, all from Delhi.

The sixth was Shamshul Haque, a lawyer who headed the gang and practised in local courts in Delhi and contested their cases in courts.

The gang used to snatch phones from unsuspecting persons speaking on phones in congested places. They would also seize phones from passengers seated by the window when the trains were departing from stations.

 

"The police recovered 65 mobile phones, a car, a Scooty and three knives from them," the officer said. All of them have been sent to judicial custody.
