Daily Bild chose legendary footballer Gerd Muller as the best German player in the history of Bundesliga as Muller topped a list of 100 outstanding players of the German league published on Thursday.
Among the top 10, there are two players still playing in the Bundesliga -- Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich), who was ranked seventh, and Miroslav Klose (Lazio), who came 10th, reports Efe.
The list was compiled by a jury that included former coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, former goalkeeper Sepp Maier, former players Charly Korbel and Klaus Fischer and journalist Wim Vomland. Most of the top-10 included the stars who led Germany to win the 1974 World Cup.
Gerd Muller was followed by Franz Beckenbauer, captain of the World Cup champions, while Wolfgang Overath was fifth and Paul Breitner eighth ahead of Sepp Maier.
The top 10 included two players who did not win the World Cup -- Uwe Seeler, legendary striker of Hamburg and great goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.
