Thomas Mueller's brace helped Germany seal their first win over resilient Scotland at the UEFA European qualifiers in Dortmund.
The FIFA world champions returned to the international stage with a hard earned 2-1 win over Scotland in the first Group D match Sunday, reports Xinhua.
Germany dominated the match but their wastefulness was nearly punished by Scotland's Ikechi Anya who levelled the scores around the one-hour mark against the run of play.
Mueller restored the one-goal lead with his second to avoid a draw at the first play off game of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
"I am satisfied with three points. We made a good start in the qualification that's what important for me," Germany coach Joachim Loew said after the game.
The Germans face Poland for their second play-off match in October.
