Germany name squad for Junior Hockey World Cup

Defending champions Germany on Monday named their 18-member squad for the Junior Hockey World Cup, being held in the Indian city of Lucknow from December 8 to 18.

Germany chief coach Valentin Altenburg nominated his players for the Under-21 championship on Sunday evening, the German hockey federation DHB declared on Monday.

The squad is currently training in Dusseldorf and will depart for India on December 3, according to DHB's official website.

Germany have been clubbed with New Zealand, Spain and Japan in Pool C.

Germany are the most successful team in the Junior World Cup's 11-edition history, capturing six titles.

 

The squad: Niklas Garst, Lennart Küppers, Anton Boeckel, Niklas Bosserhoff, Johannes Große, Nils Grünenwald, Timm Herzbruch, Henning Hüttermann, Julius Meyer, Tin Nguyen Luong, Thies Ole Prinz, Jan Schiffer, Philip Schmid, Florian Scholten, Constantin Staib, Ferdinand Weinke, Maximilian Werner, Lukas Windfeder.
