Defending champions Germany will announce their preliminary squad for this year's FIFA World Cup on May 15, the German football federation DFB declared on Friday.

"The German national football museum in Dortmund will be the location where head coach Joachim Löw announces his preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup," DFB said in a statement.

DFB also said that on May 23, the national training camp in Eppan will commence and will mark the official start of Germany's World Cup preparations.

FIFA's official deadline for the final squad, consisting in total of 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers, is on June 4.

"We want to write World Cup history once again in Russia and that's why we'll be in the football museum. We're all hoping to be part of another successful chapter this summer," Oliver Bierhoff, German national team's official co-ordinator, said in the statement.
