Dhaba by Claridges, a popular eatery in the heart of the capital city, has now also opened its doors at a south Delhi mall.

Twenty-nine years after serving food aficianados with north Indian delicacies, the hotel has brought the unique dining experience outside the fold at DLF Place in Saket here.

The new outlet, which was launched Thursday, caters to youngsters, who don't frequent five-star hotels and prefer to hang out at more casual haunts that provide great food at a good price.

"We are very excited to take this brand out of the hotel in the restaurant format. We are sure that Dhaba by Claridges will go places with this new venture," said chef Ravi Saxena.

"The new version of Dhaba at Saket will also especially cater to the walk-in customer who prefers to have light meals on the go between the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. time slot with a lip-smacking line of snacks and savouries," he added.

Dhaba by Claridges has been one of the iconic landmark of the city's food scene since its inception in 1984. The idea behind the restaurant was to recreate the quintessential Dhaba experience in a five-star setting.

"Unlike any other north Indian eatery which is normally very traditional in ambience and service, Dhaba by Claridges brings in a fusion of delicacies tinged with an authentic flavour, colourful server garbs combined with a cool and contemporary decor to create modern epicurean delight," said Vineet Kochar, operational head, Dhaba by Claridges.

Complete with a truck mural, rustic interiors and servers dressed in traditional Punjabi costumes, the place oozes a special rustic feel. The wooden tables and chairs upholstered in vibrant traditional Phulkari work, natural flooring, thatched ceiling and traditional lanterns includes some of the interior highlights.

The place is ideal for desi food lovers who want to dig into scrumptious and authentically prepared north Indian cuisine, while old Bollywood melodies play in the background on a radio set.

The menu of the place is divided into three parts - tawa, tandoor and patila.

Foodies can pick from dishes like Kanastari baingan (Baingan ka Bharta served in a copper canister), Dhaba Chilli Chicken, Golgappe ki Chaat, Vada Pav, Keema Pav and Pav Bhaji.

The beverage menu comprises favourites like Kulhar Lassi, Aam Panna, Jal Jeera and Mango Lassi.
