Ghana pair Christian Atsu and Thomas Partey were named in the list of nominees for the 2018 African Player of the Year award released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
African football's governing body released a list of 30 players each for the African Player of the Year as well as the African Player of the Year-based in Africa on Wednesday, reports Xinhua news agency.
Atsu played a vital role in Newcastle United's promotion to the English Premier League last season and has been one of the stand-out performers for the Magpies.
Partey has been an integral part of Atletico Madrid's team. Both stars are also key members of Ghana' s senior national soccer team, the Black Stars.
The winners will be decided by votes from head coaches and technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF media committee, members of the technical and development committee and a panel of experts.
The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards Gala to be held here on Januray 4.
