Accra, May 26 (IANS/MAP) Ghana will join the rest of the world to commemorate World No Tobacco Day on May 31 under the Theme "Tobacco, A Threat to Development".
A statement by Kyei-Faried S., Deputy Director and Head of Disease Control and Prevention Department of Ghana, said the day is commemorated to raise awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco use.
The theme seeks to draw global attention to the threat posed by tobacco use to the sustainable development goals and call on the governments, NGOs and CSOs to take action.
It also aims to educate the public about the manipulative tactics of the tobacco industry, the report said on Friday.
