Accra, June 10 (IANS/MAP) Ghanaians have been urged to maintain sound environmental hygiene and a new programme will be launched to sensitise locals on cleanliness and health issues, an official said.
The programme will also help people of Gomoa Pomadze town get more information about communicable diseases, said Raymond Kweku Appiah-Kubi, an official of a local Town Development Committee.
He urged the locals to clear their weedy surroundings to prevent unhygienic conditions that breed mosquitoes and dangerous reptiles.
Appiah-Kubi said the people must be educated on the laws of insanitary conditions and that anybody who flouted them should be prosecuted without fear or favour.
