The residents of Ghaziabad, in Uttar Pradesh, are upbeat after the Delhi government cleared the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) extension from Dilshad Garden Metro station to New Bus Stand here.

A delegation of Raj Nagar Residents Welfare Association (RWA) expressed gratitude to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) vice chairman Santosh Yadav Monday.

"We are thankful to GDA vice chairman Santosh Yadav for his untiring efforts to bring the Metro line to Ghaziabad," said Vineet Sharma, president of Raj Nagar RWA.

"Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday issued the no objection to a one-and-half-year-old project lying with the Delhi government for its clearance," Sharma added.

The GDA vice chairman said that after the no objection certificate and subsequent clearance by the DMRC board, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed shortly.

He added that soil test and alignment study would begin soon.

"We are studying the feasibility for the extension of the route from bus stand to district headquarters at collectorate in Raj Nagar," Santosh Yadav said.
