Amid fireworks, the iconic Eden Gardens Friday got a giant clock of its own ,visible almost to the entire stadium, thus joining the league of Arsenal football club stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Christened "Eden Time", the seven-foot all-weather clock - a joint initiative by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Seiko Watch India - has been placed in the middle tier of the B.C. Roy Club House, above the sight screen.

The clock was unveiled by CAB trustee board chairman Gautam Dasgupta and Seiko India president Atsushi Kaneko at a brief programme in the presence of a host of former and current Bengal players.

The Arsenal clock had famously graced Highbury - the club's former home ground - for over 70 years.

Installed at the South Stand, it soon became known as the Clock End. And when the club moved to their new address Emirates Stadium in 2006, the original clock too changed home and currently sits high up on the outside of the stadium in Islington, North London.

The iconic red brick Clock Tower at the M.A. Noble stand of the Sydney Cricket Ground is listed as a heritage item.

The famous Lords Cricket Ground too has a clock tower beneath the iconic Father Time weathervane.
