Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) has announced its nominees for the fourth edition of Star GiMA Awards 2013.
GiMA is a pioneering effort by Wizcraft International Entertainment to recognise Indian music. The nominees are voted by GiMA's jury, who have some of the most respected artistes in the country.
With seven nominations in hand, "Barfi!" is leading the film-music based nominations followed by "Talaash", "Cocktail", "Student of the Year", "Ishaqzaade" and "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".
Music director Pritam has been nominated for six awards. These include best music arranger and programmer, best background score, two nominations for best music director along with composer duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, best music director, best film song and two best film album for "Cocktail" and "Barfi!".
Vishal and Shekhar have received four nominations this year for their work in the movie "Student of the Year" and the dance song "Radha" from the same 2012 movie.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal has garnered four nominations, three spots in the best duet category and one for best playback singer.
Shalmali Kholgade has also been nominated in four categories, including best music debut and best playback singer (female) for the popular song "Pareshaan" from "Ishaqzaade".
In the film-music genre, the best lyricist nominations go to Gulzar for "Saans", Javed Akhtar for "Jee le zara" and "Jiya lage na" and Irshad Kamil for "Tumhi ho bandhu".
In the non-film music category, Spud in the Box band led with nominations in the best music debut, best indie song, best pop album and best rock album for their album "Attention Please".
Popular songs from the album "Coke Studio @ MTV Season 2" including "Husna", "Madari", "Sathi Salaam" and "Dum Dum" have earned nominations in several categories like best fusion album, best folk album and best indie song.
The electronic dance music track category, added this year, features nominees like disc jockey Arjun Vagale and electronic music artist Madhav Shorey.
In the non-film music category, music maestros including Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Ustad Zakir Hussain are leading the nominations in the best hindustani classical instrumental album category.
Also the best ghazal album category includes names like Ustad Ghulam Ali, Ustad Rashid Khan, Hariharan, Talat Aziz and the late Jagjit Singh.
Noted singer Anup Jalota, best known for his performances in Hindi devotional music has garnered two nominations in best devotional album category.
