A girl student suspected of stabbing a Class 1 boy in a school in the state capital has been detained while the school principal has been arrested, police said on Thursday.
The girl student of Brightland School is being interrogated. She was produced before a juvenile justice board.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lucknow Deepak Kumar said that Rachit Manas, principal of Brightland School, was arrested for not informing the police about the incident and trying to hide evidences.
Hairs found on the body of the injured boy, Hrithik, who is undergoing treatment at the KGMU trauma centre here have been sent for forensic test to establish and confirm the identity of the suspect, police said.
The six-year-old victim has deep gashes on his cheek, neck and stomach.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the injured child at the trauma centre on Thursday afternoon and enquired about his condition from doctors.

He also directed officials to take proper care of the child.
The girl reportedly attacked the boy with a knife two days ago to ensure that the school closed early.
Parents of the injured student have not blamed the teachers or the school management. However, angry parents of other children say they are worried about the safety and security of children in the school.
They are also scheduled to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister on Friday seeking a review of security measures in schools in the state capital and elsewhere across the state as well.
After the incident of stabbing of a student at Ryan School in Gurugram last year, security was spruced up at most schools, but parents allege that after some time the school managements became lax towards the safety of children.
