Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday urged Aam Aadmi Party volunteers to reach Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and help people there after some tents collapsed following strong winds and heavy rains, killing seven people.
"My heartfelt condolences to those who lost lives in the Kumbh Mela. I urge all our volunteers to reach the accident site and work tirelessly for the people in this hour of need," Keriwal tweeted.
At least seven people were killed and nearly 50 injured at the Ardh Kumbh Mela in Ujjain on Thursday when some temporary structures collapsed after strong winds and heavy rains lahed the city, officials said.
Tens of thousands of people are visiting the Kumbh Mela. Officials said many people could be trapped under the collapsed tents.
