Two persons have been arrested in connection with an acid attack on a 16-year-old girl and her grandmother, Goa police said on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Mahesh Gaonkar told reporters that Narayan Gawas and Sanit Desai have been arrested. The two have admitted to throwing acid on the victims in the wee hours of Wednesday over a property dispute with the members of the victims' family, who reside at Parra village, around 10 km from Panaji.

"The victim has suffered burns on her cheeks, chest and hands, while her grandmother has minor burns. They were sleeping by the window when the accused flung acid into the house. Both are currently undergoing treatment," Gaonkar said.
