Making a pitch for a French defence manufacturing company to set up and expand operations in Goa, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said the state's beaches would be a good incentive for French technicians.
"Goa has an advantage, you can ask the French also. They will love to come to Goa. While working here they can spend their evening on a nice beach so that they don't miss the scene or the Cannes festival or the beautiful beaches of France, Europe or even Spain," he said.
"Goa is the right place for this kind of activity and we can support it," Parrikar said during the inauguration of a helicopter maintenance and repair centre in Sattari, located 40 km from Panaji.
The chopper centre is a joint venture between the Bengaluru-based Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the French Safran Group, which manufactures equipment for the Rafale fighter jets.
