Bringing an eco-friendly twist to poll campaigning, state Congress president Girish Chodankar on Friday said that party leaders will cycle to different parts of Goa to canvass for votes for the party, during the first phase of campaigning.
Chodankar told IANS that cycling was a cheap, eco-friendly way of connecting with people and travelling by cycles also amplified both the reach of the party campaigners and generated a better connect.
"Financially, also it is a cheap mode of transport. It is eco-friendly, too, because we do not disturb the environment," Chodankar said.
"It is a unique campaigning method which was never used in Goa. We will go by cycles to markets, different areas. Visibility will increase and contact with people will be easier. It is the best way to connect with people," he said.
Apart from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for two parliamentary seats, the coastal state is also headed for bypolls in three Assembly constituencies.
