At a time when "virtues and values are at a discount", one should look up to Lord Ram, who is a true embodiment of righteousness and morality, Goa governor Mridula Sinha said on Friday while greeting the people of the state on the eve of Ram Navami.

"At a time like now, when virtues and values are at a discount it is most appropriate and relevant for us to recall the greatest ideals of righteousness and morality. Lord Ram is a true embodiment of these virtues and Ram Navami is celebrated in our great country with profound religious sentiments and reverence," Sinha said in a statement released to the media on Friday.

Ram Navami, to be celebrated on March 28 this year, is celebrated as the day of the birth of Lord Ram.

"On this occasion, it is our moral duty to try to live up to these invaluable virtues, which, I am sure, will make our lives more meaningful and wholesome," Sinha said.
