Golfer Chiragh jumps 17 places to be 12th in Asian Tour merit list

Indian golfer Chiragh Kumar on Monday jumped 17 places to be 12th in the Asian Tour Order of Merit after his breakthrough at the Panasonic Open India at the Delhi Golf Club here on Sunday.

The 31-year-old took home a prize cheque of $72,000 after registering a three-stroke victory over Siddikur Rahman and Thai veteran Thaworn Wiratchant with a 13-under 275 total at his home course.

Now Chiragh has $179,737.5 total earnings in this season. Siddikur moved up to 16th place on the Order of Merit following his joint-runner up finish with Wiratchant, who sits in a current 40th position on the money list.

 

India's Anirban Lahiri has almost sealed the top spot as he has $1,139,084.65, while second placed Scott Hend of Australia has accumulated $491,631.66.

Kolkata's seasoned pro S.S.P. Chawrasia is fourth in the money list with a haul of $297,538.75.

The Asian Tour is in Singapore this week for the inaugural World Classic Championship by Laguna National which will feature a total of 144 players from over 23 countries at the Laguna National Golf and Country Club.
