Two columns of the Army have been pressed into service to clear the tracks near the Baghauli railway station near Hardoi where several coaches of a goods train had derailed on Saturday, an official said on Monday.
Other than manpower, the army has also moved in heavy recovery vehicles, the official spokesperson of the Central Command of the Army told IANS.
Pressed into service in the wee hours of Sunday with limited visibility due to dense fog, and low temperature, the teams have successfully restored two lines - the Up and Down link resulting in resumption of services, she added.
Work on the third line is still in progress and the debris and overturned bogeys are likely to be cleared by Tuesday, she said.
A column of the 14 Guards from Kanpur and a column of 111 Engineer Regiment from Bareilly are involved in the restoration operations.
Following the derailment of the goods train, rail traffic on the busy Delhi-Moradabad route was impacted, resulting in cancellation or diversion of many trains. The routes of 39 trains were changed and several other trains were cancelled.
