Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Tuesday said the state government is working to ensure availability of new currency notes in the banks situated in tribal and far-flung areas of the state.
"To ensure the people of the state do not suffer due to the decision of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the central government, we are ensuring facilitation of smooth transaction by the consumers in the banks by providing security and other required facilities," an official statement quoting the Chief Minister said.
He said the state government would provide full support to ensure availability of currency notes even in banks located in tribal areas.
"If required, helicopter service would be provided to carry currency to the banks situated in far-off areas," he added.
