The central government on Saturday simplified procedures for import of aircraft by scheduled national and regional operators of air services.
According to the civil aviation ministry, the power to grant initial in-principle approval for import of aircraft has been delegated to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
"The delegation of power is being done in order to simplify procedures as compliance of various civil aviation requirements (CAR) are regulated by the DGCA," the ministry was quoted in a statement.
As per the existing procedure, scheduled national and regional operators of air services have to seek such approval from the civil aviation ministry.
The ministry said that Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have amended their respective requisite procedural requirements.
