The central government will do its best to take forward the teachings and ideology of famed social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, union Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said here on Sunday.
"His teachings and his ideology is one which will solve the ills of the modern world and hence this should not be limited to Kerala only. It should be spread across the country and abroad. For that, the culture ministry will make suitable arrangements," Sharma said while inaugurating the 161st birth anniversary celebrations of the guru on the Kerala capital's outskirts.
Sree Narayana Guru was born in a Hindu Ezhava family in an era when the Ezhava caste faced social injustice due to its precarious position in the caste hierarchy.
He revolted against casteism and worked on propagating social equality, coupled with spirituality and that brought him into the limelight.
"One has to perhaps even find out if his teachings did get the full importance in Kerala," Sharma said.
