West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan Thursday expressed regret over the absence of any state ministers at a government function to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 66th death anniversary, which is also observed countrywide as Martyrs' Day.
"Today's message is Gandhiji's message - peace. But I am sad that not a single state minister is present here," Narayanan told media persons after paying homage at the Gandhi Ghat located on the east bank of the Hooghly in Barrackpore.
The event coincided with the ruling Trinamool Congress' rally at the Brigade Parade Grounds where most of state ministers and party leaders, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, were present.
