The government wants public help in its crackdown on black money — on Friday it set up an email-id and encouraged people to give information about hoarders of illicit cash.

According to Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, the information on black money can be directly given to the government on the specially created ID — 'blackmoneyinfo@incometax.gov.in'.

The Revenue Secretary revealed that a dedicated team will analyse the information received through the email id.

"A cell will take care of the information received at this mail ID," he added.

Salient features of the scheme:
  • Black money information can be given at blackmoneyinfo@incometax.gov.in
  • A cell will analyse all the information received
  • Information to be passed on to CBDT (Central Bureau of Direct Taxes)
