The interest rate on General Provident Fund (GPF) and other related schemes for the October-December quarter has been retained at 7.8 per cent, the government announced on Wednesday.
"The government has announced that during the Financial Year 2017-18, accumulations at the credit of subscribers to the General Provident Fund (GPF) and other similar funds shall carry interest at the rate of 7.8 per cent with effect from October 1 to December 31, 2017," a Union Finance Ministry statement here said.
For the previous July-September quarter too, the interest rate on such schemes was at 7.8 per cent.
In September, the government had also retained the interest rate for October-December on the Public Provident Fund scheme unchanged at 7.8 per cent, in line with the rates for small savings schemes.
