Greenpeace India Wednesday hailed the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission's guidelines on net-metering for rooftop solar panels in the capital.
According to the regulations, Delhiites will be able to supply solar energy to power grids by generating it from installing a panel on their rooftops.
"After almost two years of waiting, the DERC has been wise in taking up the novel model of net-metering, which has proved successful both internationally and nationally for rooftop generation," Greenpeace India said in a statement.
According to experts, net metering allows people who generate their own electricity from solar power to feed the electricity they do not use back into the grid.
