India to have 100% electrical vehicles by 2030: Piyush Goyal

He said working group under Nitin Gadkari is evaluating the possibility of India making the transition

The government has formed a working group under union minister Nitin Gadkari to study the possibility of the country transitioning to 100% electrical vehicles by 2030, union Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.

Speaking at the session "Making India a Global Economic Superpower" during the Conference on Young Indians, Minister of state (Independent charge) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Goyal said that the working group under Minister for Highways and Road Rransport Nitin Gadkari "is evaluating the possibility of India making the transition to 100% electric vehicles by 2030".

"This programme is going to be on a self financing model and will look at monetising savings that consumers have on petroleum products," he added.
