GST February collection up 13%

The revenue collection under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rose more than 13 per cent to Rs 97,247 crore in February as against Rs 85,962 crore in the year-ago month, the Finance Ministry said on Friday.

"The total gross GST revenue collected in the month of February, 2019 is Rs 97,247 crore," the Ministry said in a statement. In January 2019, it stood at Rs 1,02,503 crore, becoming the third month in the fiscal crossing the Rs 1 lakh crore mark.

Out of the Rs 97,247 crore collected in February 2019, Rs 17,626 crore was collected as Central-GST (CGST), Rs 24,192 crore as State-GST (SGST), Rs 46,953 crore as Integrated-GST (IGST) and Rs 8,476 crore as cess.

 

The IGST amount includes Rs 21,384 crore collected on imports and the cess includes Rs 910 crore collected on imports, the statement said.

The revenue in February, 2018 was Rs 85,962 crore and the revenue during February, 2019 grew by 13.12 per cent over the revenue in the same month last year, it said.

The total number of GSTR 3B Returns filed for the month of January up to February 28, 2019 is 73.48 lakh, the government said.

Further, the government has settled Rs 19,470 crore to CGST and Rs 15,747 crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement.

The total revenue earned by the Central government and the state governments after regular settlement in the month of February is Rs 37,095 crore for CGST and Rs 39,939 crore for the SGST.
