Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Guendogan extended his current contract which will keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2016.
Despite being sidelined for most of the season due to a back injury, Guendogan decided to stay with the 'BVB' through the campaign 2015-2016. The German international has scored six goals in 57 appearances and was a key player during last season, reports Xinhua.
"We are very pleased with this deal despite the injury related situation. We hope that Ilkay will recover to his full potential for the upcoming season with the BVB," sporting director Michael Zorc said.
The midfielder added: "I am very grateful that my club gives me the opportunity to continue to be part of this team. I will do everything to help my teammate again soon."
Dortmund still have a chance to win one title this year as they progressed into the German Cup final, either against Bayern Munich or Kaiserslautern.
