German footballer Ilkay Gundogan will leave Borussia Dortmund by the end of the season, club manager Michael Zorc said on Friday.
After negotiations, the club agreed not to extend his contract and that he would leave in the summer, Zorc explained, adding that the club had not yet received any offer to buy Gundogan, reports Efe.
However, a few weeks ago, German media reported that Gundogan would perhaps join Manchester United.
Gundogan's contract, which expires in the summer of 2016, will not be renewed so it is expected that he will leave when it expires, if not before, Borussia Dortmund representatives said a few days ago.
The German international joined Dortmund in 2011 and a year later, won Bundesliga and the German Cup.
Gundogan suffered successive injuries this season that have kept him away from competitions.
