Unidentified gunmen on Saturday raided Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto's rural home in Eldoret city of Kenya after shooting a police officer guarding the home.
A senior area police chief said the armed assailants stormed the home and still held up in the premises, Xinhua news agency reported.
The incident happened a few minutes after Ruto left for a political rally in a neighbouring town.
"Fighting is still going on but reinforcements have been sent to the area," police officers were quoted as saying.
