Indian golfer Gursimar Badwal carded sub-par one under 71 to grab the lead in the first round of the 13th Leg of the Hero Womens Professional Golf Tour at Jaypee Greens here on Wednesday.
Kapurthala's Gursimar Badwal started on a good note, carding a birdie on the very first hole. Her advantage was, however, short lived as she dropped a shot on the fourth hole.
She added two more birdies to her tally on the 10th and 11th holes, while carding a lone bogey on the 18th to finish with a score of one under 71.
Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor finished the day in second position with an even par round of 72. She carded a bogey and a birdie apiece on the seventh and ninth holes respectively in her front nine. She also carded another birdie on the 16th hole while dropping a shot on the 17th to finish a shot adrift of Gursimar Badwal at level par.
Panchkula's Amandeep Drall and Jaipur's Afshan Fatima are tied for the third position with identical scores of 1 over 73 after 18 holes. Amandeep carded the lone birdie of her round on the 3rd hole, while dropping shots on the 5th and 12th holes.
Afshan had a remarkable start and carded three birdies on the first, third and sixth holes while dropping a single shot on the 4th in her front nine. Her return journey was, however, a different story with a birdie less back nine and three consecutive bogeys on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes.

Chandigarh's Saaniya Sharma and the Delhi duo of Mehar Atwal and Ankita Tiwana finished the round in tied fifth position with identical scores of 2 over 74.
Saaniya Sharma played a bogey free front nine with birdies on the 3rd and 6th holes. However, she could not sustain the momentum and carded bogeys on the 15th, 16th and 18th holes along with a double on the 14th.
In the back nine, she carded the lone birdie on the 11th hole. Mehar Atwal's card on the day included three birdies on the 5th, 11th and 18th holes, along with bogeys on the 1st, 6th, 10th, 12th and 15th. Ankita too carded three birdies on the 8th, 11th and 12th holes while dropping shots on the 4th, 7th, 14th, 15th and 18th.
Pune's Shweta Galande and amateur Anisha Padukone are tied for the eighth spot at 3 over 75, followed by Delhi's Ayesha Kapur in tenth position at 5 over 77.
