Angry over alleged police inaction against the management of a school where a student was critically injured in an accident, local residents on Thursday blocked Sohna Road in Gurugram, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The mob, including elderly men and women, blocked Sohna Road at two places -- on Netaji Subhash Chowk and Islampur village, the native village of the victim.

Class 9 student Mohit Thakran fell off the building of the school on July 4.

"Mohit's condition is critical and he has been on ventilator since then. Instead of enquiring about the health of the child, the school management issued a statement to the media saying it was a suicide bid," Mohit's father Bijender Singh told IANS.

"No suicide note was recovered, his belt, necktie and identity card was missing," he said.

Singh said that Mohit was very happy as he had just returned from a visit to Dehradun and other places.

"My son has undergone seven major surgeries at a multi-speciality private hospital, costing nearly Rs 30 lakh till now," he added.

Various officials of the school management have been booked for negligence at Badshahpur police station.

"It was not clear whether the boy fell off accidentally, someone pushed him or he jumped of his own volition. The statement of the boy has not been recorded as he is in ICU on ventilator," a senior police officer said.

Despite repeated efforts, no one from the school management was available for comment.
