San Juan, Dec 30 (IANS/EFE) The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, or GCAA, resumed Monday the search for a small cargo aircraft that went missing over the weekend with a crew of two people aboard.

The plane, a twin-engine Britten-Norman Islander, disappeared Sunday while on a flight between Mahdia and Karisparu, the GCAA said.

Aboard the plane are pilot Nickey Persaud, 27, and cargo loader David Bisnauth, 51.

The GCAA said six aircrafts, including two helicopters, searched for nearly seven hours Sunday without spotting any trace of the cargo plane.

The search began after Timehri Air Traffic Control was unable to make contact with the aircraft.

"The search continued until sunset and the two helicopters and one Cessna Caravan are at Mahdia and will recommence search", the GCAA said.
