Hamid Ansari condoles deaths in Makkah's Grand Mosque accident

Vice President Hamid Ansari has condoled the deaths in the crane accident at the Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia's holy city of Makkah.

"I am deeply saddened to know about the accident at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia that has resulted in the loss of many lives and injuries of Haj piligrims," Ansari said in a message.

He said relief and rescue operations are presently underway and every effort will be made to render all possible aid to the injured and the bereaved families.

"I join the people of the country in conveying my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons," Ansari said.

 

The ministry of external affairs on Saturday said two Indians were among the 107 people killed and 15 Indians were injured in the accident.

At least 238 people were injured after a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque on Friday.
