Indian grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna drew against China's Wei Yi in the eighth round to retain his overall eighth position in the Tata Steel Chess tournament here.
The World No.11 was locked in a solid battle that went for about two hours to salvage the half point on Sunday.
He now has a tally of four points with five more rounds to play. Harikrishna, starting with white pieces, took advantage initially but his Chinese opponent defended very well forcing the Indian to a draw.
"I got into a slightly better position in the beginning. But Wei Yi defended well and with time running out, we had to be content with a draw," Harikrishna said after the match.
The Indian star, with a rating of 2770, has won once, drawn six matches and lost one in his campaign so far.
Harikrishna will next play Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi on Tuesday.
