India's grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna drew with Russian Grandmaster Dimitri Andrekin in the seventh round to finish on the eighth position in the Tata Steel Chess tournament here on Sunday.
The World No.11 was engaged in a thrilling battle that lasted little over two hours to secure the crucial half point. He now has a total tally of 3.5 points with six more rounds to play.
Harikrishna, playing black pieces, tried to open up but could not seize the advantage.
"It was a solid game with many exchanges, but I could not get many chance to get into advantage and in the end had to repeat moves to play out a draw" Harikrishna said after the match.
The Indian star, with a rating of 2770, has won one, drawn five while losing one game in the campaign so far.
Harikrishna will take on Wei Yi of China on Monday and will start with white.
