The Haryana Police on Saturday busted a gang involved in theft of vehicles and snatching by arresting three people who are residents of neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
The gang used to commit thefts in order to live a luxurious life.
Police recovered a Tata Safari SUV, 10 motorcycles, others vehicles and cash from the arrested gang members.
A police spokesman said that the accused have been identified as Sunny Pawar and Rohit, residents of Gotka (district Meerut) and Aehsaan Rana, resident of Ratanpuri in Muzaffarnagar district.
"Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrested Sunny and Rohit from Prem Nagar, Gurugram. During interrogation, they admitted to having committed theft of cars and motorcycles, apart from snatchings at night, along with their accomplices. They also revealed the name of the gang's mastermind, Rana, who was later arrested from Meerut. Rana was produced in the court, where he was remanded in police custody for two days," the spokesman said.
He said that interrogation revealed that the three accused had together committed about 15 robberies. Rana used to take stolen vehicles to Uttar Pradesh for sale. A murder case had also been registered against him in Indri police station in Haryana's Karnal, for which he has already served the sentence.
