Following a request made by the Uttarakhand government, the Haryana government Tuesday dispatched 11,000 tents to the calamity-hit hill state.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner (Revenue and Disaster Management) Krishna Mohan said that tents have been sent on the demand of the Uttarakhand government and the consignment would reach there by the evening.

The tents are part of the relief supplies being sent to Uttarakhand.

Nearly 10,000 pilgrims are still stranded at various places in Uttarakhand. The Met office has forecast heavy rain in some parts of the state in the coming three days. Rescue operations through helicopters were affected Tuesday due to rainfall and clouds in many parts.

Haryana had earlier sent over 25,000 blankets to help stranded pilgrims and other people following heavy rains, flash floods and landslides that cut off major areas of Uttarakhand and devastated a large number of towns and villages.

Mohan said that of the total 1,044 pilgrims from Haryana stranded in Uttarakhand, 385 have safely reached their homes Tuesday.
