The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HSIIDC) will develop an aerospace park in Hisar town by 2022, an official said on Friday.

It will have maintenance repair and overhaul facility, fixed base operations and an aerospace park.

The state civil aviation department would shortly float expression of interest to seek suggestions from various stakeholders in the aviation sector. Their inputs will be included while preparing the final project report, a government spokesperson said.

He said the aerospace park would manufacture components for aerospace and defence sectors.

An area of about 2,000 acres can be made available for the park.

Well-connected by rail and road, Hisar is just 20 minutes of flying distance from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

"Hisar has a continental climate characterised predominantly by dry periods with scanty precipitation. This is conducive for aviation manufacturing as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul operations," he said.

The possibility of setting up a domestic airport or cargo airport in Hisar may be evaluated in the long run, he added.
