The Haryana government will launch a campaign to encourage people to donate land for various development work and social causes, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Thursday.
"There are a large number of people in the state who want to donate land for various social causes like construction of dharamshalas, gaushalas, educational institutes and girls' hostels. People can also get any development project undertaken in their area provided land is made available to the government for the same," Khattar said in his address at an event in Kurukshetra, 110 km from here.
He said that a similar campaign was launched by social activist Vinoba Bhave, as a result of which thousands of acres of land had been donated by people throughout the country.
"There is no shortage of land in the state and people are ready to give land for development work," Khattar said.
