Teachers in Haryana's government schools would now be evaluated by the performance of their students and even by their own attendance, a minister said Sunday.
Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said that responsibility of teachers would be fixed for the results of students and their own (teachers') attendance.
"To ensure the attendance of teachers in the government schools, boards would be installed on which name of the teachers, joining date, educational qualification and mobile numbers would be written," she told reporters here.
"It would facilitate the school management committees to know about their absence from the school and also the reason of absence," she said.
Bhukkal said that a list was being prepared of schools whose students had not performed satisfactorily in the examinations.
"Teachers of these schools have been issued notice to explain the reasons behind it," she added.
She said the move was to bring qualitative improvement in the government schools.
