Haryana's vigilance department has ordered a probe into former chief engineer of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) B.S. Singroha's assets and against alleged irregularities during his tenure, an official said here on Friday.

The probe was launched on the directive of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The director general of the vigilance has ordered inquiry of assets belonging to Singroha and his kin, the official said.

"We are investigating Singroha's assets, alleged irregularities during his tenure, allotment of projects when he was the chief engineer and other issues," a vigilance official told IANS.

"We are inquiring alleged irregularities during the tenure of Singroha," Mayor Yadav told IANS.

A few months ago, Singroha was transferred to Chandigarh as the chief engineer in public health department.
