A woman councillor was injured as a free-for-all broke out between councillors and their supporters in Haryana Monday, witnesses said.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Sangita Singhal was rushed to a hospital with injuries after councillors and their supporters freely traded blows at the municipal corporation office in Yamunanagar town, 110 km from here.
The trouble started when the councillors, who had gathered to hear public grievances, were assembling in a meeting room. Mayor Saroj Bala came there with her husband and could not find a chair to sit. Deputy Mayor Pawan Bittu allegedly did not vacate the chair for her which led to exchange of arguments, said witnesses.
Soon supporters of both sides entered the room, traded blows and hurled chairs and other office equipment at one anther.
