Versatile and record-breaking playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, who is a Guinness record holder having sung nearly 40,000 songs, has actually lost count of the songs he has given voice to for films in various languages.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration here of the 47th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Balasubrahmanyam, who has already been honoured with Padma Bhushan said that he credits his fellow lyricists, music directors and other colleagues for his success as a singer.
"Even I do not exactly know. It cannot be over 40,000. It should be between 35,000 and 40,000," Balasubrahmanyam said when asked about the number of songs he has sung.
Balasubrahmanyam is being felicitated with the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year at the IFFI this year.
