The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to file its response to Aam Aadmi Party legislator Sanjeev Jha's petition challenging the formation of Police Complaints Authority (PCA) by the Lieutenant Governor without consulting the city government.

A bench of Justice S. Ravindra Bhat and Justice A. K. Chawla listed the matter for October 10.

PCA will inquire into complaints and allegations against Delhi Police personnel on matters of custodial rape, custodial death, extortion or any serious abuse of authority.

As per the notification, the authority will also inquire into allegations after receiving the complaint either from the victims or the National Human Rights Commission, Lt. Governor and Delhi Government's chief secretary or principal secretary.
