The Delhi High Court, posting for Friday the central government's plea seeking lifting of the stay on plying of e-rickshaws, asked it to submit details of draft guidelines to regulate these battery-operated vehicles till they are brought under the Motor Vehicle Act's ambit.
A division bench of Justice B.D Ahmed and Justice Siddharth Mridul Thursday said the guidelines submitted earlier by the city government were not clear o the areas where e-rickshaws will be allowed to run.
The court is considering the central government's plea to relax its July 31 order.
During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Pinky Anand informed the court that the draft rules will be placed soon before the law ministry.
She also said that e-rickshaw operators live on the basis of their earnings and the government is seeking exemption or interim directions for just four weeks.
On July 31, the bench banned plying of e-rickshaws on city roads on the plea of social activist Shanawaz Khan while saying they are illegally running on Delhi roads and hazardous to other traffic as well citizens.
